Mr. Velissariou Efstathios is a Professor in the Department of Business Administration and CEO of the Property Development and Management Company of the University of Thessaly. 

He has served as Deputy President of TEI Thessaly (2013-2017) and Head of the Tourism Business Department of the School of Economics, TEI Larisa (2006-2013). Since 2019 he is the Director of the Master's Program in the Management of Educational Units of the University of Thessaly.

Studies

He graduated with Honors from the Department of Economics at the University of Thessaloniki in the field of "Business Economics". After attending postgraduate courses in the field of Marketing at the University of Munich, he completed his Doctoral Thesis in the Department of Political Economy at the University of Munich on the "Economic Impact of Tourism". He also successfully attended the Course "Open and Distance Education" at the Hellenic Open University.

Teaching

From 2000 until today he teaches in the Master's degree program of "Tourism Business Management" of the Hellenic Open University (EAP). He contributed to the writing of the printed teaching material for the EAP in two volumes (Introduction to the Management of Tourism and Tourism Services (Volume A) and Management of Special and Alternative Forms of Tourism (Volume D).

From 2022 he also teaches in postgraduate programs of the International University of Greece and the Hellenic Mediterranean University.

In 2005 he was elected as Assistant Professor in the Department of Tourism Enterprises at the Technological Educational Institute of Thessaly in the subject "Administration of Tourism Enterprises".

Since 2019, Dr. Velissariou joined the University of Thessaly, as Professor in the Department of Business Administration.

Professional experience

Bevor his academic career, at professional level (between 1991 and 2005), Dr. Velissariou gained significant professional experience in the fields of Business Administration and Tourism. Initially he was employed in the Education Directorate of the Hellenic Tourism Organization. Then he was employed as Senior Business Consultant in an international Business Consultants Company, in the implementation of European programs in Greece and abroad. At the same time, he also served as director of studies in Vocational Training Centers. As freelancer he has participated in a very large number of projects, studies and research programs as member or scientific supervisor.

Today he is also a member of the Register of Assessors of the General Secretariat of Research and Technology, based on decision 122622/18.07.2017 of the General Secretary of Research and Technology and a member of the Register of Assessors of the Operational Program "Human Resource Development, Education and Lifelong Learning" (OP ANAD-EDBM) of the NSRF 2014-2020.
