Welcome to the website of the Department of Business Administration. Our Department was founded in 2019 and offers high-level education at (a) undergraduate level through a modern undergraduate study program with two thematic axes, (b) postgraduate level through three postgraduate study programs, (c) doctoral studies and (d) postdoctoral research.

The Department has established itself in its area, which is evidenced by the steady and growing interest of new students who make it their first choice and who improve their admissions performance. In addition, with the steadily increasing interest of new graduate students, as well as PhD candidates. It is distinguished from similar Departments in Greece and its curriculum is aligned with the most well-known similar departments abroad. In addition, it offers clear professional rights to its graduates.

The Department contributes significantly to field research and participates in a wide range of projects funded by the European Commission, but also by National and Regional Resources. The Department is housed in modern buildings on the Gaiopolis Campus in Larissa with adequate auditoriums and classrooms, as well as fully equipped laboratories. The educational staff of the Department includes 15 faculty members, 2 EDIP members and 3 ETEP members with many years of educational and research experience and collaborations with Universities and Research Institutes both in Greece, but also significantly abroad, promoting the extroversion and international character of the University of Thessaly.

με ομιλητή τον κ. Κώστα Πηλιούνη, Καθηγητή Διοίκησης Επιχειρήσεων στο Rome Business School.

Η παρουσίαση θα εστιάσει σε θέματα στρατηγικής διοίκησης και στον επιδραστικό ρόλο της κουλτούρας του οργανισμού, με αναφορά σε συγκεκριμένες προκλήσεις που αντιμετώπισε η δανέζικη πολυεθνική, καθώς και τις στρατηγικές της επιλογές.

Ο κ. Πηλιούνης υπήρξε για σειρά ετών υψηλόβαθμο στέλεχος της φαρμακοβιομηχανίας, με εμπειρία σε ηγετικές θέσεις της Δανέζικης πολυεθνικής Novo Nordisk. Από το 1987 έως το 2017 υπήρξε επικεφαλής της Novo Nordisk σε διάφορες περιοχές, συγκεκριμένα στην Μέση Ανατολή – Αφρική, στην Ισπανία – Πορτογαλία, και στην Ιταλία – Ελλάδα – Κύπρο – Μάλτα, καθώς και επικεφαλής Μάρκετινγκ και Επιχειρηματικής Ανάπτυξης των Διεθνών Λειτουργιών της εταιρείας. Από το 2017 έχει ιδρύσει την PNValue, μια επενδυτική και συμβουλευτική εταιρεία που εστιάζει σε νεοφυείς επιχειρήσεις που δραστηριοποιούνται στον κλάδο φροντίδας υγείας. Επίσης, διδάσκει στο Rome Business School.

"Leadership and strategic planning. The case of Uster Technologies"

In the context of the department's extroversion and the familiarization of students with real cases from the business world, the Department of Business Administration of the University of Thessaly is organizing a lecture with guest speaker Mr. Thomas Nasiou.

Ο κύριος Νάσιου είναι μηχανικός κλωστοϋφαντουργός, MBA, executive training INSEAD, με προϋπηρεσία ως στέλεχος παραγωγής στην ΕΠΙΛΕΚΤΟ ΚΛΩΣΤΟΥΦΑΝΤΟΥΡΓΙΑ ΑΕΒΕ, στη συνέχεια στέλεχος στην USTER Technologies AG, ως τεχνολόγος, product manager, διευθυντής τεχνολογίας και CEO. Τώρα είναι μέλος του Board of Directors στην Uster Technologies AG, μιας εταιρείας που γιορτάζει φέτος τα 150 χρόνια, και ανήκει στην TOYOTA Industries Corporation (TICO).

Mr. Nasiou will address the role of leadership in strategic planning, the role of cutting-edge technology and innovation in a traditional industry such as the textile industry, as well as corporate strategy issues, with emphasis on his experience from Uster and TICO.

“The Janus face of AI. Opportunities and threats”

The University of Thessaly – Department of Business Administration and the National Technical University of Athens – Laboratory of Industrial and Energy Economics are co-organizing the 37th Conference of the European Association for Evolutionary Political Economy (EAEPE), in Athens, on September 24-26, 2025. The venue will be the National Center for Natural Sciences Research "Demokritos".
